Graduation 2020 FAQs

Results

When will I receive my results?

If you have completed your course, you should have received your results by the end of June. If you have a later course completion date, please contact your lecturer to see which date you can expect your results.

I must do a resit. When will that take place and where?

Resits have been arranged with each student through their course tutor. If you need any further information, you should contact your course tutor.

Graduation

Will I still graduate this summer?

We are working hard to ensure that all Higher Education students who can complete their course this year do so. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and while we are not able to hold our usual September ceremony, students will still officially graduate ‘in absentia’ and you will still receive your award.

Can I still graduate if I must do a resit?

If you pass your resit and all fees are paid, yes you could still graduate.

How will the College celebrate my graduation this year?

We are planning a Virtual Graduation experience over the Summer. More information on this will come soon. We will promote this on our website and social media channels.

Will I get to attend a Graduation at the Waterfront Hall?

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak there will be no in-person Graduation in September 2020, which normally takes place in the Waterfront Hall.  We are working to finalise details for a Graduation at the Waterfront Hall early in 2021. We recognise this news is disappointing but the safety of our students, their guests and our staff remains paramount.

Will you be running another Graduation in the Waterfront Hall for us?

How else can I celebrate my Graduation?

Along with the Virtual Graduation experience that we are planning for you, there are some other ways you can also celebrate. These include but are not limited to:

  • Have a zoom chat with your classmates
  • Cook a delicious meal in the comfort of your home and celebrate with family
  • Have a Graduation photoshoot at home

Certificates

When your certificate arrives into SERC, you will receive a text message to come and collect it from the campus you studied at. Certificates will usually be ready to collect from 1st October. Please note this date may change due to Covid-19 circumstances.

Can you post my certificate?

No – you must come into the College to collect it. Depending on Government guidelines we will arrange with you when to come in for your certificate.

Outstanding Fees

What if I owe the College money?

If there are any outstanding fees on your account, these must be paid before you can officially graduate.

I owe the College money for my course or exam fees, how can I make a payment?

If you owe the College money you can contact our finance team on: accountsreceivable@serc.ac.uk to pay any remaining fees.

If you have any other queries, please contact marketing@serc.ac.uk.
